Uppsala University is the oldest university in the Nordic countries – founded in 1477 having three Disciplinary Domains: Arts and Social Sciences, Medicine and Pharmacy, and Science and Technology. The University has about 5,000 employees and more than 40,000 undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in courses.

The participants from Uppsala University belongs to the Microwave Group (MG) at the Department of Engineering Sciences at the Angstrom Laboratory. Expertise in the MG are design and fabrication of the wireless interface for sensors operating between 400 MHz and the THz region for health, security and safety applications. The wireless sensors are either monolithic or hybrid designs. The MG is also active in the area of adaptive wireless interfaces for sensor networks, e.g. networks on cargo train wagons and wireless sensor body area networks (WBAN) where the MG is working in the VINNOVA Vinn-excellence center for Wireless Sensor Networks (WISENET).

The MG group has participated in several EU projects e.g. NoE: AMICOM, NoE: NewCom, IP: e-CUBES, IP: RF Platform, STREP: Artemis. Present running projects are STREP: ULTRA, ADOSE, SATURN, MiniMEMS (EURIPIDES).

The MG is also member in the Scientific Advisory Board and Key Technology Group of the European Technical Platform on Smart Systems Integration, EPoSS.

The facilities at Uppsala (Angstrom Laboratory) include a fully equipped clean room of 2,500

m2. Microwave CAD (ADS, Ansoft, CST-Studio, HFSS, Momentum, IE3D) and measurement equipments (e.g. VNA's) for analysis up to 325 GHz, multimode reverberation and anechoic chamber for antenna beam pattern and efficiency measurements.
